What does EADS do?
EADS is a European industrial flagship which unites the capabilities of four market leaders:
Airbus is the leading global manufacturer of the most innovative commercial and military aircraft, with Airbus Military covering tanker, transport and mission aircraft. Its commercial product line comprises aircraft that range in size from the roughly 100-seat single-aisle A318 to the over 500-seat A380 widebody aircraft. Today, Airbus consistently captures about half of all commercial airliner orders.
Astrium is the leading European company in the space industry, and through space transportation solutions, satellite systems and related services has guaranteed Europe’s unrestricted access to space for more than 40 years. In 2011, Astrium reinforced its impressive record for programme execution, in particular through the 46th consecutive Ariane 5 launch success, and achieved important commercial successes in satellite activities. Meanwhile, the Division made significant progress towards its strategic goal of becoming a global leader in space services.
Cassidian is a leader in global security solutions and systems, providing lead systems integration and value-added products and services to civil and military customers around the globe. Cassidian is defending world security — security at major events, security of information, security of critical infrastructure and natural assets, and border security. In 2011, the company continued to accelerate its drive to globalise its business outside Europe, while also developing next-generation products. In the medium term, Cassidian expects to be generating more than 50% of its total business outside the traditional home countries, and in the long term, Cassidian aims to increase the security-related share of its revenues to 50% compared to 22% in 2010.
Eurocopter is the world’s number one civil and parapublic helicopter manufacturer, with a 30% share of the global fleet. The company’s civil and military helicopter range extends from the civil EC120 light helicopter to the EC225 Super Puma, and from the AS550 C3 Fennec to the Tiger on the military side.
